PRIVATE YOGA

Hatha vinyasa, restorative, power, beach, chair—you name it. This can be a great tool for so many reasons. Some clients look to private yoga as a way to gain foundational knowledge of vinyasa to build confidence for studio classes. Some clients like the luxury of having the undivided attention of their teacher for personalized classes specific to their strengths and opportunities as well as the hands-on adjustments. Some clients like the one-on-one tips and tricks to reach a pose not feasible in a crowded studio setting. If any of these sound like you, this could be a perfect choice. We’ll meet either in person or over the phone to discuss your personal practice, history of injury, and yoga goals and interests to develop a satisfying flow just for you.

AYURVEDA

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word translating as “knowledge of life.” It is considered by many to be the oldest healing science, rooted in Indian Vedic culture over 5,000 years ago. Its ancient principles are reflected in trendy western natural healing practices like homeopathy and herbalism—and for good reason. Ayurveda emphasizes dis-ease prevention through conscious attention to one’s imbalances regarding mindset, energy levels, metabolism, food cravings, and lifestyle. Where western allopathic medicine tends to focus on symptomatology and pharmaceuticals or surgeries to rid the body of pathogens, Ayurveda seeks to return the body to homeostasis, or sattva, using food or herbs as medicine so that dis-ease never has the grounds to occur in the first place. It should be noted that Ayurveda is NOT a substitute for western medicine.

My Ayurvedic consultation provides you with background knowledge of the practice and its benefits. Together, we’ll discover your Ayurvedic constitution, or dosha, by examining your emotional, mental, and physical characteristics and tendencies. Knowing your dosha will allow us to think about actions that may help to return you to sattva so that your body can thrive. Tips for balance could be anything from the best time for you to go to bed and wake up, which style of movement practice is best, which flavors of food you might have more of, which style of mediation is best, or which herbs to include in your teas and tinctures. You will be provided with my favorite recipe for a delicious kitchari—one of the most grounding and easily digested meals in Ayurvedic cuisine.

Please note that there is no such thing as a license to practice Ayurveda in the United States, and that my consultation is based on personal research and experience. I am not a medical doctor. This consultation does not replace that of a licensed physician. Please consult your doctor before consuming anything discussed during this session. IF IT DOESN’T FEEL GOOD, JUST DON’T DO IT.

REIKI HEALING

I was once a skeptic myself. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique, where “rei” means spiritual or sacred, and “ki” means energy. It is based on the idea that the unseen energy pathways in our bodies can become clogged, blocked, or low-frequency. When this occurs, physical dis-ease is exacerbated, anxiety and depression have a breeding ground, and we have the propensity to engage in emotionally dissatisfying situations. In other words, Reiki can help us to shine a little brighter, love ourselves a little more, and radiate peace to and with others. It has no contraindications and is often suggested as a complementary healing technique to therapy, addiction recovery, and western practices like chemotherapy, radiation, or any treatments for chronic or acute conditions.

Reiki can help you to feel deeply relaxed, cope with difficult situations or emotions, relieve stress and anxiety, and help improve your well-being.

Personally, I and everyone I know who loves this practice agree that we glow so much brighter after a session—like an enormous weight has been lifted from our shoulders, and we’re ready to invite in the magick of the universe. I think everyone should be able to feel this state of bliss.

I am a certified Reiki Level II Practitioner and am happy to answer any questions about the practice here.
